| Free text | As part of the project on alternative forms of care for abandoned or institutionalised children and young people introduced from 1995 by the Ministerio de Bienestar Social and the Dirección Nacional de Protección de Menores of Ecuador: Draft report on a seminar on "Family-based protection measures" (Cuenca, 1/98). The report analyses a pilot-project run by Mensajeros de la Paz in Quito and A.S.A. (Asociación Solidaridad y Acción) in Cuenca. The experiment is based on placement of a minor in a "family home" (casa familia) where he should find a more adecuate environment for his development than in an institution, such as an orphanage or other types of "homes" (casa-hogar). Article giving the legal framework for the newly defined family placement system. Proposals for composition and characteristics of a Consejo Nacional de la Niñez y Adolescencia which would include members from the public and private sectors (Approx. 41 p). |
