Free text "Securing the future establishes a strategic framework for BAAF for the next five years. We identify the context within which we are working and put forward our priorities for action." Statement on intercountry adoption and BAAF's potential future role to "offer help and guidance to adoptive parents to help develop and support a child's sense of self-esteem and identity." The belief that "suitable families living in Britain who could match ethnicity and religion of many more of the children needing adoptive homes from other countries can be identified." BAAF "will focus on the needs of the children and young people affected by intercountry adoption and encourage post-adoption support for them and their families." This includes the targetting of "specific communities representative of the ethnic and cultural background of children being adopted from overseas to help to support these children's needs in the future." In addition to their work within the UK, BAAF intends to "offer support, training and consultancy to workers in other countries developing child care services in order to assist children to remain in their own countries and reduce the need for intercountry adoption in the future."
