Free text Planning the best placement for babies and other children is the theme of this book. Taking into consideration the child's particular situation, and the different perspectives and needs of the various actors involved in a placement. In chapter 4: Legal and medical issues, the question of gathering and preserving medical information is stressed, both from the point of view of the carers need to know of any medical need of the child, but also as precious information to keep for the adoptee. Pre-birth counselling of birth parents and discussions of plans and placement options is stressed. Support to the adopters should include information on the child's history.
