Free text Meeting the individual needs of every child for placement include those arising from racial origin, culture, religion and language. These are considered particularly essential for black and other minority ethnic children due to society's inherent racist attitudes which might affect these children in their lives. It is also deemed necessary to respect the biological parents' wishes when placing a child to insure a continuity in the cultural patterns the child has known. The book presents guidelines for agencies to help them keep priorities in mind when matching children to carers and specific guidelines for the placement of black children.
