Free text This book attempts to combine and present all the aspects involved in the planning and carrying out of the long-term placement of a child in adoption or foster care. Beginning with the needs and wishes of the child to be placed (considerations such as the needs of a sibling group), followed by the preparation of the child and the matching with the chosen prospective adoptive family, ending with the settling into the new home and support for the whole adoptive family, all steps are considered and recommendations are made that can reduce the risk of failure. In the "tools" section of the book, several social services bodies have contributed checklists, diagrams, forms and sample agendas for different aspects or issues involved in the process of planning and matching for adoption or fostering.
