She gives recommendations for professionals dealing with adoption which include: careful selection and matching of parents and children, and the importance of preparation for the adoption. Suggestions for the new parents of older children stress the awareness of the difficulties to come, lowering of expectations, the importance of dedicating time to the child, while setting limits, and the necessity for a good dose of patience, humor and faith. |
