Free text | Based on the experience of Scottish fostering services, this is a report of a study on foster care in Britain conducted with the help of responses to a questionnaire sent to people involved in foster care. It analyses the present situation of foster care services including: organisation and management; fostering policy; background, assessment, recruitment, preparation and training of foster carers; the matching process and preparation of the child; the experience of fostering, with particular emphasis on support received from social services. The reported results of the study point to the changing nature of foster care and, taking into consideration response to the questionnaire, the authors include recommendations for improved services. |
