Free text This book compiles information presented at the 4th National Child Welfare Symposium on Community Collaboration and Differential Response which brought together senior policy makers from across Canada with researcher and service providers from Canada, United States, England and Australia. The publication is devided in two sections. The first one describes key policy and research issues that have emerged from efforts to develop community collaboration and differential response models in child welfare in Canada. It discusses the limitations of the current system and documents the need for change. The second section presents five innovative Canadian and British initiatives developed to provide more flexible and collaborative approaches to child welfare practice.
