Free text | In BAAF's Adoption Statistics Project: Research Study based on the information held on the database of the Department of Health - Children Looked After, with information pertaining to children looked after in the year ending 31March 1996. The study's conclusions reveals, among other information, worrying and unexplained delays in finding permanent placements for children, with very young babies often spending many months in care before being placed for adoption (this includes infants who are relinquished for adoption). Children admitted into care over the age of 2 were adopted less frequently with a greater decline for older children. The study also reveals great variations in local authorities handling of freeing orders. |
