Free text | July-August 1996 issue of this publication containing several articles on life-book production for adopted children or children in foster care. In " Videotape and the memory visit: a living lifebook for adopted children " the authors explain how videotapes of biological parents can be used to gather valuable information and share this information with adoptees. Experiments in the use of these videotapes have been made by the Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange in collaboration with the Jackson County Department of Social Services. In " Using lifebooks with children in family foster care; a here-and-now process model " the authors describe a different (and complementary) approach to the use of lifebooks which focuses on the here-and-now and the situations and relationships the child is presently having to cope with (therefore involving the child more with its contents), rather than the emphasis on past or historical facts about his life. Article entitled " Adoption in the 1990s: Sociodemographic determinants of biological parents choosing adoption". |
