When considering adult outcomes, the authors take into consideration variables resulting from the wide range of children and families involved (including: age at placement, special needs or disabilities of the child and reason for placement). Twenty nine studies into foster care and placement are considered and reviewed. Evaluation of outcomes involved the areas of adult self-sufficiency; behavioural adjustment - criminal behaviour and chemical dependency; family and social support - the ability to form and maintain supportive family and social relationships; personal wellbeing - physical and mental health. |
