Free text | Quarterly publication (formerly published with the name Adoption UK) from the newly named Adoption UK (formerly P.P.I.A.S. - Parent to Parent Information on Adoption Services), organisation which was formed in 1971 by a group of adoptive parents of "hard-to-place" children for the purpose of providing support, advice and encouragement for prospective and existing adopters and permanent substitute families.This organisation works closely with BAAF -British Agencies for Adoption and Fostering- and like them offers a computerised family finding service. Publication is in two sections. Section one contains editorial articles and articles written by parents on their experiences in adoption, by social workers, and other actors in the different stages of the adoption process. Other information and commentaries on adoption in the UK. Book reviews on recent adoption-related material. Announcements of meetings and conferences, as well as advice lines and other support for adoptive families and their children. Section Two "Children who wait" features information on children waiting to be adopted compiled and presented by social workers working for individual agencies, County Council or city Borough offices.
