Free text Among articles in this issue of this quarterly publication: A Pilot Study of Training Adoptive Parents for Cultural Competence, by Elizabeth Vonk and Ruth Angaran which describes and analyses outcomes of a parent training programme used by an adoption agency in the USA which places children transracially, through both domestic and intercountry adoption. The discussion of results of the study seem to indicate that (with certain limitations) the training programme has a positive effect on the parents "perception of the importance of racial awareness, multicultural planning and survival skills.." (coping skills to deal with prejudice and racism). The study on Development of Children Exposed to Illegal Drugs In Utero, by J. Haugaard and A. Moed takes into consideration available information on children who have been adopted - results from long-term studies will give better understanding of the possible effects of in-utero drug exposure.
