Free text | Information provided by Hans van Loon, Secretary General of the Hague Conference on Private International Law pointing out the relevance of the Hague Convention on Jurisdiction, Applicable Law, Recognition, Enforcement and Co-operation in Respect of Parental Responsibility and Measures for the Protection of Children of 1996 for the Separated Children in Europe Programme (joint initiative of the UNHCR and the International Save the Children Alliance which aims to realise the rights of separated children in Europe. These can be asylum-seekers due to persecution, armed conflict or disturbances in their own country, or victims of trafficking, sexual abuse or exploitation, as well as those escaping conditions of 'serious deprivation'. |
