Free text This book is a training resource based on a project in Scotland. Its initial aim was to provide information about new developments in intercountry adoption and the related legislation. As the project progressed, it focused more on practice issues. The book has a clear presentation. It contains four parts. Part 1 provides an overview of the projet. Part 2, the core part, examines important practice issues in intercountry adoption addressed by the project. Each section presents a key topic and summarises the main material and discussion points generated by the project. Within each section, a range of exercises are provided which are designated to support workers undertaking home studies and guide others involved in intercountry adoptions. Part 3 presents research into intercountry adoption in Scotland commissioned by the project. Part 4 consists of resources, including books and articles, useful organisations, details of all relevant legislation and a template for infomation to be given by adoption agencies to prospective intercountry adopters.
