Free text | This paper is a research summary about permanent sibling placement. It underlines the dilemmas and complexities raised by placement of siblings. Among other things, it explains that decision about these placements should take account of children's individual and shared needs and their feelings about each other. Research shows that sibling placements can be positive and may be more stable than placements of children on their own. There may be reasons why siblings are, or need to be placed apart. If this is the case, robust plans for contact should be drawn up unless this is clearly contra-indicated by the children's relationships and feelings. |
