The book contains information and commentaries with recommendations in various areas of adoption law that include: secrecy in adoption; adoption in the tradition of indigenous peoples (Maori); open adoption or adoption with contact with the birth family; the Care of Children Act and how adoption could be inscribed within it as part of a child protection measure; pre-adoptive counselling for birth parents and prospective adoptive parents; intra-family adoption or care (relative adoption); ethical issues and risks raised by medically-assisted reproduction, as well as access to information for the child born from such treatment. |
