| Free text | In this book, the author tries to demistify the issues surrounding the relinquishment of a child by its biological mother resulting in an adoption in Brazil. She discusses the reasons that may lead a mother to give up her child, and the process of mourning that results from this decision. They need support at the time of their decision and later on. She encourages all professionals that could be involved in adoption, medical doctors, lawyers, psychologist, legal experts to share their experience to try to influence changes in adoption policies in the country that result in "social and psychological violence that are present in relinquishment" (unofficial translation). The author criticizes the policy of closing access to files containing information on the adoption - both for the biological parent and the adopted person. |
