Interacial Sale Adoption-intercountry Adoption-independent Child-interest |
Free text | Article from The Economist, May 1986 - in the United States of America the demand for adoptable children far exceeds the supply. Few statistics are available on adoption; expensive, " independent " adoptions (legal in 35 states) are the only way to obtain a healthy white baby- unethical practices often prevail; more and more American couples are turning to international adoptions- the risk of trafficking is often present; over 40% of children in public care awaiting adoption are black. |
