| Free text | Description of the Québec model of fostering/adoption called "banque mixte" based on the American model of "concurrent placements" or "fost/adopt". Foster parents are recruited from waiting prospective adoptive parents who accept to foster a child at high risk of being abandoned or who could ultimately become fully adoptable. Children are often classified as difficult to place and/or present "special needs".
