Free text | Study on the provision for compulsory counselling as required by Section 26 Children's Act of 1975 in the UK in cases of search for information on birth relatives (retroactive in cases of people who were adopted before the Act which gave them the right to have access to birth records). Comments on some of the problems faced by social workers who act as "counsellors" - finding out what type and how much information was wanted by adoptees, how to give information, how far to go in the information given. This chapter also goes into the secrecy element associated with adoption and adoption as a condition that marginalizes the individual |
