Free text | Three year project funded by the Department of Health of the UK which includes the production of a learning and training resource in the form of a videotape (Adoption in my life with notes and transcript compiled by Marion Hundleby - Project Leader, Jacky Slade - Project Worker and Shelagh Beckett - Child Care Trainer and Consultant), audiotapes (The Inter-country Experience), practice papers (No1- Post adoption disruption, by Marion Hundleby and No 2- The range and diversity of post adoption experiences, by Jacky Slade) and a web-site (www.nisw2.org.uk/project1618 created by Sue Jardine, Information Officer at the National Institute of Social Work). The project was born out of the need to know more about young adults' feelings about the experience of being adopted through either domestic or intercountry adoption and aims to help people whose work brings them into contact with these young people such as social workers, health visitors, school psychological services, family guidance specialists, as well as those working in family placement and adoption. Others who can benefit from these resources include any one with personal experience in adoption, social work volunteers, councellors, therapists and students. The project received advice and guidance from a multi-agency steering group. |
