| Free text | Description of the project "Wings" ("Alas") created from the San Carlos Home for children (Casa-Hogar San Carlos) by the INNFA (Instituto Nacional del Niño y la Familia) in the city of Riobamba in Ecuador. This project has created living units ("nucleos de convivencia") for young people 15 to 25 years old who have been institutionalized with no possibilities for reinsertion into their families nor adoption or fostering. The units provide independent living quarters within the community for a group of three to five young people who are either studying or working, and who will be supervised and helped by selected adults in the community, as well as receiving support from the personnel from the San Carlos Home. |
